On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the Professional Engineer Program (PSPPI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip), in collaboration with PT Pertamina (Persero), officially opened the 2026 Professional Engineer Program. The program was officially launched through the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS). The event was held at the Rama Shinta Ballroom, Patra Semarang Hotel & Convention, and was attended by leaders from Undip, Pertamina, the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), as well as PSPPI participants.
In the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS), Pertamina was represented by Vice President of Learning Management at PT Pertamina, Rosalia Ambar Yuniarti. Meanwhile, Undip was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng.
The opening ceremony began with a safety induction, the singing of the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, and a prayer. The event continued with the PSPPI opening ceremony, marked by a symbolic pinning ceremony and the presentation of academic jackets to representatives of the participants.
Senior Vice President of Pertamina Corporate University at PT Pertamina (Persero), Robby Rafid, S.H., then delivered a report on the program. In his remarks, Pertamina reaffirmed its support for professional competency development through professional engineer education.
“This collaboration is part of our efforts to strengthen human resource competencies and prepare engineers who are capable of responding to industry needs,” said Robby Rafid, S.H.
The next remarks were delivered by the Director of Human Resources of PT Pertamina (Persero), Andy Arviyanto, M.B.A., CRP. He emphasized the importance of developing competencies not only through academic learning but also through an understanding of the needs and challenges of the industrial sector.
“Pertamina places operational excellence and safety as priorities, even above profitability. These priorities are supported by thousands of officers who have been proven and trusted in the field. However, field expertise alone is not enough. This is where the challenge and opportunity lie: transforming field experience into formally and legally recognized competencies that are equivalent to international competency standards,” said Andy.
The event continued with remarks from the Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si. In his remarks, the Rector encouraged participants to make the most of the professional education program as preparation for carrying out their responsibilities as professional engineers.
“Be engineers who not only possess competence, but are also able to create meaningful contributions and uphold the good name of your alma mater,” said Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si.
Following the series of remarks, participants attended an engineering sharing session with the Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), Dr. Ing. Ir. Ilham Akbar Habibie, M.B.A., IPU., ASEAN Eng. The session discussed the engineering profession, along with experiences and insights from an inspirational figure in the field of engineering.
The program continued with an introduction to the Professional Engineer Program at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro, delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng.
The 2026 PSPPI opening event concluded with a performance by the choir, followed by the closing session led by the Master of Ceremonies.
Through this opening, PSPPI Faculty of Engineering Undip and Pertamina officially commenced the Professional Engineer Program for participants, strengthening professional competencies and professionalism in the field of engineering.
